Paperback & ebook, 368 Pages

Her best bet is to stay away

Was Olivia hearing this right? The one man in Indian Lake she’d found truly intriguing since, well, forever—the hopelessly handsome heir to the region’s most successful farming operation, Rafe Barzonni—was involved in horse racing? That made him, and her sudden attraction, downright dangerous. He wasn’t just out of her league. He was a gambler. Like her father. With the shame of her father’s racetrack betting addiction still haunting her, Olivia can’t be part of that world. Rafe’s world. She can’t trust him, or his magnetism. But there’s something deep in his incredible blue eyes that keeps drawing her closer…

Indian Lake is a town of loving, sometimes eccentric, characters who are all struggling to find their way in life and love, as all of us do, but they come together as a group, helping, hugging, praying and encouraging each other.  The elderly, feisty and down-to-earth wisdom dispensing, elegant Mrs. Beabots, has the biggest heart in town and room for all of her two-generations-younger women friends. Mrs. Beabots has as much energy as any of the late-twenty year olds, and can be found in her massive Victorian kitchen baking up pies and tarts to donate for charities and her community.  Sarah Jensen and Luke Bosworth (LOVE SHADOWS) live next door to Mrs. Beabots on Maple Boulevard along with Luke’s two talented children, Annie and Timmy and Sarah’s massive, handsome Golden Retriever, Beau.

Maddie Strong (HEART’S DESIRE) has married her first love, NATE BARZONNI, who abandoned her on her front door step on the 4th of July right after his graduation from high school, when he left for the Navy.

Liz Crenshaw (A FINE YEAR FOR LOVE) and her grandfather, Sam Crenshaw, own a vineyard on the north of town. Liz is now married to Gabe Barzonni  and expecting their first child.  Boy? Girl?  You have to read  SOPHIE’S CHOICE in July, 2016 to find out.

Austin McCreary(KATIA’S PROMISE)  is the richest man in town and like his father and grandfather, collects antique cars.  Austin has been the town’s recluse since his first love, Katia Stanislaus, abruptly left town with her mother, the McCreary housekeeper, rather than fly to New York for his senior prom.

The picturesque Indian Lake is one of seven glacier lakes inside the city limits of Indian Lake. Any one can see how easy it would be to fall in love in a romantic town like this.

  1. Thanks for competition!

  2. Linda Kish says:

I liked the snapshot of the Indian Lake series. It shows just how much is detail is involved in developing a town or community to make a series of books flow well.

    • Hi, Linda! When I started “construction” on my series, I wrote 155 pages just of the concept alone. Then I started with characters. I’ve added many more, believe me. Each book is an undertaking, but I wanted a mythical, though very real town that would support as many as 26 books by the time I finish the series. Keep watching each book for clues about Mrs. Beabots’s secrets—and there are many!

  3. Rachel B says:

Really interesting synopsis. I look forward to reading how they overcome her fear of gambling and the racetrack.

  4. I love the cover! I can’t wait to read it. It sounds like a fantastic read!

    • Hi, Terri,
I hope you like it. I adored writing this one …well, all of them really, but because horses were such a part of my life, my mother’s and my late husband’s life, it was only right that a book bring their loves to life.

  5. I think the cover looks nice and the synopsis looks good

  6. I love the cover! <3

  7. cheryl johnson says:

The cover was nice, the excerpt was really interesting.

  8. Thanks for the giveaway; I like the excerpt and cover. 🙂

  9. I like the cover very much.. Thanks for the giveaway.

    • Hi, Kathleen!
I like giveaways because it gives the winner a chance to buy more books. I am constantly on Amazon buying all the new Heartwarming books first and then I buy a lot of esoteric reading, historical fiction, biographies, okay…….just about everything except horror. I live alone now and I’m scared of mice much less monsters!!!

  10. I haven’t visited Indian Lake before, but I’d like to. I like the cover of this book and I’d like to read it!

  11. I think that the cover is great ! I can’t wait to read this book , I know a lot of gamblers through my work and I am intrigued !

  12. The cover makes it look more believable. Thanks for the giveaway!

  13. It sounds intriguing – but definitely also love the added pictures, especially of the dogs! 😀

  14. This looks to be a very sweet read. Love the cover. I discovered something today “Jane Wilder”, I thought those stories were only movies (which by the way I love,) I had no idea they were books. Keep up the great story telling.

  15. The cover fits a contemporary romance for sure 🙂 Since it’s young adult, the couple on the cover fit that genre nicely 🙂 I like the cover overall!

  16. sherry butcher says:
