Guests are expecting a Christmas Eve wedding . . .
What could be more romantic than a Christmas wedding at a ski lodge in Lake Placid? Well, if there actually was a wedding, for one thing! Three stories about getting love right over the holidays by USA TODAY bestselling author Kristine Rolofson and award-winners Karen Rock and Jennifer Snow.
The Kiss: A bride runs into her ex…and takes the ultimate gamble!
The Wish: An event planner sprains her ankle…and the chef asserts control.
The Promise: A maid of honor dodges an ex-boyfriend out to right a past wrong…
The Kiss by Karen Rock – I swear this is every bride’s nightmare, to be close to the wedding day and get cold feet. Only in this case it’s an arctic storm. Julie is a bit cautious (that would be an understatement) and unfortunately has let many things other that her heart dictate her heart. When she finally puts her foot down and decides to get married, she decides it’s also time for a change. I liked Julie. I have to say I was a bit concerned that she went from being cautious to being daring and I felt I wasn’t sure either was her core personality Yet again, I liked her being brave.
Austin was an unusual hero. I liked him, but didn’t love him. I wanted him to be less gun-shy and a little more understanding.. I do love that he did change a little in the end.
The Wish by Kristin Rolofson – This is my personal favorite of the three. Oh how I loved Nico. Swoony Award worthy. Period. I love his passion, patience, persistence, and humor. If Grace doesn’t want him, I’m sure I can take him home to mother (Oh wait. I’m happily married. Sigh. Guess Grace will get to keep him.) I love that Nico is a little sneaky to get Grace to a point that she sees him. I loved his family. So. Fun.
Grace is sweet and talented and I liked her. But seriously, Nico makes this story.
The Promise by Jennifer Snow: The cancelling bride’s cousin (Liam) and her best friend supposed to be the bridesmaid (Alexis) had been in a serious relationship eight years earlier. Things had ended badly and they hadn’t connected since. Liam has never stopped regretting his decision from eight years ago and spends his time at the resort trying to get her to see that. There are some fun elements of surprises that Liam pulls to get near to Alexis. This was a nice third novella that also wrapped up the second story.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, sweet, fun, fast novellas. Especially when my time is at a premium and I still want a quick complete read without committing a full night. Each of these stories mostly works as a stand-alone (but let’s be real here) yet the trilogy delivers the complete package.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Content: Kissing, mild innuendos and language (especially in The Promise)
