SilksingerTitle: Silksinger

Book Summary:

Whisper Silksinger is the last of the secret guardians of the Azazel, one of the powerful Djinn who dreamed the world into being. Relentlessly pursued by bloodthirsty devils, she flees to the city of Nazneen to restore the Azazel to his temple. At the same time, Hirik Mothmage is also on a secret quest, to find the Azazel and restore his disgraced clan’s ancient honor.
And behind them all flies Magpie Windwitch, first champion of the new age of faeries, desperate to rescue Whisper and the Azazel alike before they fall in the clutches of a sinister hidden enemy.

I started this series thinking there were only 2 books.  Silksinger was published back in 2009 and there hasn’t been any other books released so I thought the series was done.  I was wrong.  This is a series that the author has never finished which is quite disappointing.  From what I have read Laini is not even working on this series right now so if you choose to read this be prepared to be left hanging.

I actually enjoyed Silksinger more than I did Blackbringer which was the 1st book in the series.  The writing is beautifully done. It is pure fantasy with just a hint of romance. There is no doubt that Laini is a gifted writer. She weaves a intricate  story that easily be enjoyed by readers of all ages.  There is really no content that anyone could even suggest is questionable other than a little rude humor.

If you enjoy fantasy you should definitely give this series a try. Just be prepared to be left hanging without closure at the end of this book.
