Six-time Grammy Award wining musician Kyle Hamilton has it all—money, fame, talent, good looks, and a job he loves. His only regret in life: walking away from a certain notorious virgin because he was too prideful, stubborn, and even afraid to give her the only thing she asked of him—his abstinence.
Four years and a broken heart later, Kyle realizes that sex isn’t everything, and he suddenly can’t stop thinking about the girl that got away. Virgin Val Jensen got under is skin like no one else ever has. He wasn’t ready for her then, but things are different now. He’s grown up, he’s learned a few things, and he’s finally figured out exactly what he wants, or, rather, who he wants.
Kyle Hamilton wants a do-over, and this time he’s willing to do—or not do—whatever it takes.
I really enjoyed this story and am reposting my review. Please be aware there is some content that makes this a book inappropriate for younger audiences.
A is for Abstinence is the sequel to V is for Virgin and is told completely from Kyle’s point of view. If you have not read V is for Virgin you should definitely read it first. The back-story is necessary to full appreciate this book.
Personally I loved Val & Kyle so was way excited to read the continuation of their story. I was not disappointed. This was a book I couldn’t put down.
A mere 6 hours after A is for Abstinence arrived in my inbox I have already read it. I loved it and didn’t put it down. In fact I sat through my son’s band concert last night reading while listening to his concert, was reading at stop lights, cleaning up the front room with my kindle in hand…yeah it was one of those kinds of books.
I’m a huge Kelly Oram fan. I love the way she writes, I love her characters, I love her story-lines. She draws me in and her characters and scenes come alive. A is for Abstinence was no exception and was exactly what I was expecting from a sequel.
The chemistry between Kyle and Val has plenty of steam in this one. If you have read V is for Virgin you have an idea of what to expect but Kyle and Val are now grown ups so the heat level has turned up a few notches. The entire book revolves around sex but honestly it was a heck of a lot cleaner than the “sweet” romance book I started reading a couple days ago. This book has a great message and is a lot of fun but if you are a squeaky clean reader this one is not for you. I won’t be giving it to my 14 year old to read as it is much more adult than young adult.
Rating: 5 Stars – I loved it!
Content: some language – most of it mild, innuendo and talk of sex but no sex scene, some passionate making out, a few inappropriate scenes that will likely make a conservative reader blush.
Kelly Oram wrote her first novel at age fifteen–a fan fiction about her favorite music group, The Backstreet Boys, for which family and friends still tease her. She’s obsessed with reading, talks way too much, and loves to eat frosting by the spoonful. She lives outside of Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and four children.
