Book Review: Better Off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg

Better Off FriendsTitle: Better Off Friends

Author: Elizabeth Eulberg

Publisher: Point

Release Date: February 25, 2014

Book Summary:

For Macallan and Levi, it was friends at first sight. Everyone says guys and girls can’t be just friends, but these two are. They hang out after school, share tons of inside jokes, their families are super close, and Levi even starts dating one of Macallan’s friends. They are platonic and happy that way.

Eventually they realize they’re best friends — which wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t keep getting in each other’s way. Guys won’t ask Macallan out because they think she’s with Levi, and Levi spends too much time joking around with Macallan, and maybe not enough time with his date. They can’t help but wonder . . . are they more than friends or are they better off without making it even more complicated?

From romantic comedy superstar Elizabeth Eulberg comes a fresh, fun examination of a question for the ages: Can guys and girls ever really be just friends? Or are they always one fight away from not speaking again — and one kiss away from true love?

It has been way too long since I last read a pre-release book.  I’m always so far behind I rarely get anything read prior to its release and if I do get it read I rarely get an actual review written.  So the fact that I actually read this one and am taking time to get an early review up says something!

I’ve read and enjoyed 3 of Elizabeth’s book and didn’t finish one of hers so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this one.  Fortunately this one ended up being a book I thoroughly enjoyed and didn’t want to put down.  This type of book is the reason I originally fell in love with and started reading young adult literature as an adult.  Cute, clean, fast paced and fun, this one was a hit with me.

I loved both Levi & Macallan and found the bantering between them hilarious.

Kudos to Elizabeth for writing a clean book I can pass on to my 13 year old.  I recall just 1 swear word in the book.

4.5 Stars – Highly Recommend, add it to your to read list.

Content: Almost clean (just 1 word). I will let my 13 year old read it.
