The Z&C Mysteries are a fresh, unique series, where the mother and daughter can kick butt in heels if they have to. The situations can get very scary, but nothing is ever too gory. The reading is clean, while also vibrant. It’s just plain fast-paced fun.

Interview with Zoey Kane
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
My daughter Claire; a good-looking man in the only palm tree; and, a speed boat ready to go!
Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
Absolutely. I co-write this series with my daughter, so you can see how we came up with a mother-daughter duo. Zoey and Claire are very similar to us in many ways, so we have fun writing under their names.
What is you favorite way to spend a rainy day?
Mind wandering; drinking something warm and yummy; looking out the window, hoping there is thunder and lightning.
How long do you generally let a story idea ‘marinate’ in your brain before you start the book?
I just sit down and start writing. Sometimes stories take their own direction this way. I have been known to brain storm the title with Claire and the whole book is influenced by that.
If you could take over the world, would you?
An amusing thought. Could I hand out pink-slips?
Which of your characters is a portrayal of you?
Zoey. She is way more brave than me. I, for instance, would not walk through an underground sewer to escape death unless I had to. Well, come to think of it, she had to. I would not fight someone down to the ground, if they were trying to harm me. No, dang it, I would! Then, I would not go busting in on a cavern full of zombie-dancers. Oh, and neither would she, except, that’s the way the rabbit went.
What drew you to writing this genre?
It is what I, myself, enjoy reading the most.
Do you like the spotlight or lurking in the shadows?
How do you go about revising/editing?
Claire is the gifted editor. Even then typos can slip unnoticed. So we hire proofreaders to also go through our work.
Heh heh. The time an old homeless man stood in front of my house, yelling he and God were going to kill everyone. I knew I was the first to go. The neighbor man came out and told him to get on up the road. If he wanted a sandwich, I think his approach was all wrong.
