Little Fish

A Memoir from a Different Kind of Year

To 18-year-old Ramsey Beyer, the transition from smalltown Michigan high schooler to big East Coast city art school student wasn’t entirely easy. Like most college freshmen, Ramsey experienced a wide range of emotions throughout the year, from being painfully homesick to gleefully independent–and everything in between. Through journal entries, collages, lists, and comic-style artwork, she tells a deeply personal story of her journey from childhood to independence.

“Beyer’s debut captures her introspection with earnest, appealing black-and-white panels. . . . Wary college-bound students will find comfort in this sincere and endearing look at freshman year.” -Booklist
“Her story is easy to relate to and recommended. . . ” -Kirkus Reviews
