Book Summary:

Rosalinda Fitzroy has been asleep for sixty-two years when she is woken by a kiss. Locked away in the chemically induced slumber of a stasis tube in a forgotten subbasement, sixteen-year-old Rose slept straight through the Dark Times that killed millions and utterly changed the world she knew. Now, her parents and her first love are long gone, and Rose– hailed upon her awakening as the long-lost heir to an interplanetary empire– is thrust alone into a future in which she is viewed as either a freak or a threat. Desperate to put the past behind her and adapt to her new world, Rose finds herself drawn to the boy who kissed her awake, hoping that he can help her to start fresh. But when a deadly danger jeopardizes her fragile new existence, Rose must face the ghosts of her past with open eyes– or be left without any future at all.
This fairy tale retelling with a sci-fi backdrop (and just a dash of dystopia) are merely the setting for this gem of a novel.  Rose is at first meek and helpless, but she grows and gains wonderful depth.  It’s deep and dark and it’s more about Love than romance.  It made me happy, sad, angry, and hopeful.
It is similar to Cinder (which I loved) but is darker and has even more depth and character development.
I don’t want to give away the story by saying too much.  I hope you’ll give it a read and let me know what you thought!
Rating: 5 Stars – I loved it!
Sex – Some kissing
Language – There was some swearing, not a lot
Violence – A robot is trying to kill her, but no graphic violence

  1. So glad you loved this one too, I don’t meet many bloggers who have read it, but I loved it, especially Rose’s character growth! 🙂 I just heard about the sequel to it and am so excited for it to come out!
