Top Ten items I Own!
.) My Tiffany’s box. I collect boxes. Some are special to me for one reason or another, and really, there’s nothing particularly special about my Tiffany’s box . . . except that it came from Tiffany’s, it’s that special Tiffany’s blue, and it used to contain an actual item from Tiffany’s. Bwahahaha!
.) My Button Doll. I got this doll when I was about fifteen on a trip with my family. I could not have told you why I loved it from the moment I saw it, but I did and it is still one of my very favorite things. She sits on my kitchen windowsill and still makes me smile.
.) My wedding ring. My wedding ring is a family ring. It belonged to my husband’s grandmother and she let him know it was his inheritance when she was diagnosed with cancer and not expected to survive. My husband and I have been married for almost twelve years and that woman is still alive and defying doctors’ orders to die!:D
.) My three legged pig. My little brother sent this to me from Chile. It’s for luck. I like it. That’s really the beginning and ending of that story.:)
.) My iPhone. You can have my iPhone when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers. Seriously, I live on my phone. Whether it’s checking my email and keeping up on twitter, or running from Zombies with the Run, Zombies running app, or endlessly taking pictures of my kids, I use this thing All. The. Time. You know what I almost never use it for? Making phone calls. Go figure.
.) My bed. At least once a week I flop down onto my bed and say, “I love my bed.” And I do. I have a huge king-sized, plantation style, canopy bed with the best mattress in the world. You may think it’s strange to put it on my Top Ten list, but you don’t know how much I love to sleep. Seriously, I love my bed.
.) My desk. So much of a writer’s life is spent at the computer. Working. I love having a place to park that helps make the work feel less ominous. My desk is white and I always set it up somewhere sunny. It is cluttered with odds and ends and knick-knacks that give my happy thoughts. It’s L-shaped and has lots of room for the stacks of books and disorganized heaps of paper that are a constant in my life. It’s just a bright, comfy piece of furniture that makes me feel at home.
.) My Bosch. I love to cook. And I am constantly using my Bosch to do so. From making whole wheat bread, to shredding cabbage for homemade eggrolls, to juicing hundreds of lemons from my tree, to blending up my favorite spinach-avocado-vanilla smoothie. I use my Bosch for everything!
.) My butterfly wing necklace. I love this thing. And I get compliments on it every time I wear it! Hand-made by my awesome friend Georgia Cranston, it is a beautiful butterfly wing (humanely obtained!!) pressed in glass on a silver and bead necklace. (I’m on my second chain, actually, because I wear it so often!) It reminds me of the Wings series, for sure, but it’s so beautiful I wear in all the time just because.
.) My stack of 90% Lindt Choclate bars. My mother has what she calls a chocolate fairy. (We all pretend not to know it’s my dad.;)) And the chocolate fairy always makes sure that she has a stack of extra large Symphony bars in her closet. Well, I am my own chocolate fairy, and I always make sure I have a stack of Lindt 90% Chocolate Bars in my office. See, my mom made sure I learned all of the truly important lessons in life!
