Chameleon by Kelly Oram – Guest Post & Giveaway

For small-town rebel Dani Webber magic and monsters are no more real than the Easter Bunny… until the day she accidentally stops time. Dani quickly discovers that not only do supernaturals exist, but she herself is one of them. This is great news for her life-long best friend Russ, who can finally come clean about his own supernatural status and his undying love for her. Before the two can start to enjoy the long overdue relationship, Dani is taken by a powerful council of supernaturals who believe she is the Chosen One destined to save them from extinction.
As if being kidnapped and expected to save the world isn’t bad enough, an ancient prophecy warns of the Chosen One’s dark nature: “Only the truest love will keep her an agent for good.” The council believes they know who this “true love” is and, unfortunately, that person isn’t Russ. The mysterious, powerful and devastatingly handsome Seer is the last person Dani wants in her life, but when she starts having visions of a horrific future, she has no one else to turn to for help.

Soon Dani finds herself torn between two very different boys with two very different opinions of whom she can trust. With the visions getting worse and time running out, Dani is forced to put aside her feelings and work with both the Seer and Russ before an ancient evil is unleashed upon the earth.

I think it’s a widely known fact that I read books to fall in love. I am always gushing over this character or that, and if there’s a team to choose, I happily grab my pompoms and lead the cheering. The best is when I can fall in love with both the male and the female love interests together as a couple. I hate it when I love one main character and don’t love the other. It’s just so hard to swoon when half of the couple is annoying. That said, here are a few of my favorite swoon-worthy paranormal couples.

First, I have to go with Kate and Curran from the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I recently discovered this series and fell in love! Not with just the books, but with the two main characters! YUM! Kate is a kick-butt human with a secret reserve of really powerful magic. She’s got too much attitude and not enough self-preservation. She’s always finding trouble somewhere and usually that trouble comes in the form of the Atlanta shape-shifter pack leader Curran. The werecat is so hardcore and scary. You do not mess with him. (Unless, of course, you’re Kate Daniels.) These too have so much chemistry it practically flies off the page. The best part about them is not knowing whether they are about to attempt to kill one another or make out. Whenever they’re together it can usually go either way.

The second couple I want to point out is Daemon and Katy from Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series. Katy is a strong likable character (a book nerd just like me!) and Daemon is a hot alien who is so good at being sexy he makes me blush as much as Katy. What I love about the two of them together is how they handle one another. Daemon is a world-class jerk. For reals. The guy is mean. I’d hate him except that Katy never tolerates his behavior and then even forces him to act civilly. Well, as civilly as Daemon is capable of acting. She also has a talent for getting past his defenses and finding that sweet Daemon we all love, no matter how deep that nice Daemon is buried. When Katy gets him to open up and act like a decent person I seriously melt. Love these two together!

And finally, what would a swoon worthy paranormal couples post be without Clary and Jace from Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series? These two have to be my favorite couple ever. They blend the perfect amount of snark and playfulness. They can be mean to each other one minute and beyond sweet the next. They are just fun and exciting and have a sensitive side that makes you swoon. Jace is the perfect guy to help Clary because he forces her to be strong and brave. Then he’s always impressed when she is. You watch him fall in love with her, and as a result you fall in love with them both. I just hope I love Movie Clary and Jace as much as I love book Clary and Jace.
