Guest Post

The journals of my great-great grandparents were instrumental in writing Journey of Promise. Their experiences and challenges inspired me to write a fictionalized story based on their life in Wales. I’m so grateful they recognized the value of documenting their experiences for future generations. Because of their foresight, I feel as though I know something about them, their personalities, their beliefs, their yearnings, even though I never met them. Their journals have reached through time and linked me to them. My great-great grandparents are so much more than grave markers with static dates. I know them and I love them because their journals.

We too, can leave a lasting legacy for the generations to come, scores of years from now, when we can no longer speak for ourselves. Write of your experiences, your trials, your joys, your love. Leave your accumulative knowledge and wisdom on the pages of your journal that others might learn from you, might learn of you.

We are a product of our past, and so often we remain ignorant of who we are because of those who’ve gone before us. Take the time to feed the future by writing in your journal now. You never know how your journey might touch the lives of generations to come.
