Ask Me Anything – Converting PDFs by Emailing them to your Kindle

Today’s questions is one I am asked all the time.  It’s asked several different ways so I’m not quite sure what the best way to word it is. Something like this…

How can I convert a PDF to a Kindle readable file? How to I email a review copy to my Kindle?

This is so easy to do and yet I’ve found so many bloggers don’t have a clue that it can even be done.  Many ebooks I received are in PDF format.  I won’t read them on my computer and reading them on my Kindle in PDF format make me crazy.

Thankfully it is so easy to convert them to a Kindle readable file.  All you have to do is email them to your Kindle email address with a subject line: CONVERT
Finding your Kindle Email Address

When you are logged in on Amazon.com place your cursor over Your Account near the top right of the screen.

When the box pops up click on Manage your Kindle.

Now look in the left hand column and find Mange Your Devices.

Click on it and you will see your Send-to-Kindle Email Address.

Now all you have to do is email the PDF file to that address.  The subject line of your email needs to be: CONVERT

The next time you turn your Kindle on by your wireless internet access point your document will automatically download to your Kindle.

TIPS

In order to receive a Kindle document via email it must come from an approved email address.  To add email addresses simply click on Personal Document Settings in the left column.

You will see a list underneath Approved Personal Document E-mail List where you can add & delete approved email addresses.

TIP
While there be sure to set your Maximum Charge Limit for Whispernet Delivery Options to $0.00.  You definitely don’t want any surprise charges on your account!
