What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
I start off healthy with yogurt or oatmeal but then in the mid morning I have a breakfast dessert of dark chocolate — it’s the dessert part that is my favorite!
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Because several reviewers have said they were unable to put it down — and hopefully it would be just as engaging for you!

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?

I was, and still am, a huge Lois Duncan fan. I’m hard pressed to pick just one favorite out of her collection of amazing books, but if forced I would have to say “They Never Came Home.” Talk about a book you can’t put down!

When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?
There was a period of time where I wanted to be a football player during the day and a ballet dancer at night, but when it became clear I didn’t have talent for either, I decided I’d be a writer. That way I could be anything I wanted in the stories I created, talented or not!
Who are your favorite authors of all time?
I could go on but will go with the first five who spring to mind: Madeleine L’Engle, JD Salinger, Sarah Dessen, Patricia McCormick, and Beverly Cleary.
What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?
I am a big fan of Grey’s Anatomy — friends and my husband mock but they simply do not understand the magic of Grey’s.
Favorite places to travel?
The whole world! I love to travel and my list of places to visit is long — next up is Mexico and the Mayan ruins of the Yucatan .

City or Country?
I grew up in the country but I am a city girl all the way.
Beach or Pool?
Beach, for sure! Outside of my city home I am happiest at the ocean.
Cats or Dog?
I am a proud crazy cat lady with an utterly magnificent cat.
What is you favorite way to spend a rainy day?
Reading of course!

Dropped off by the family driver at the gated Barrett mansion where she virtually grew up with Ariel, Sera worries only about avoiding the birthday girl.
