Supernatural Freak by Louisa Klein

Welcome to Author Louisa Klein

Louisa Klein is 25, lives in the UK but was born in Germany and brought up in Southern Europe by a German dad and an Italian and French mum, which made her a little confused at first. She has a degree in Medieval Studies and a postgraduate one in Marketing. She’s been working in publishing on and off since she was 17 and during the day she is a freelancer and an Urban Fantasy writer. At night, she puts on a mask and fights British crime. She gets very little sleep.

Interview:
1. Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.

It’s a fun, action-packed urban fantasy with a really cute love interest.

2. Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?

I am writing the outline for Supernatural Fog, the second book in the Supernatural Freak series. I can anticipate there will be a lot of ghosts, a few zombies and an unusual Jack the Ripper!

3. What inspired you to want to become a writer?

I prefer to consider myself a story-teller, since I am interested in all kind of story-telling, and would gladly write comics, for example. As for what inspired me, I don’t really know. All I know is that I started telling stories long before I could read or write.

4. What is your dream cast for your book?

Wow! That’s an easy answer, since I actually started writing already with a cast in mind:
Robyn Wise (the heroine) >  Scarlett Johansson (but not 100% sure about her)
Terence Wise (her scoundrel uncle) > Terry Jones of the Monty Pyton
James Turner (a wizard, probably in love with Robyn) > Hugh Laurie
Stephen Turner (a wizard, James’ brother) > Stephen Fry
Susan Turner (a witch, James and Stephen’s sister) > Helen Mirren
Sebastian (a dark elf and the Spirit of the Tiger) > Freddie Fox (of course with black hair: he looks harmless, but he’s a great actor and can totally play the bad guy).

5. Finish the sentence — one book I wish I had written is . . .

Harry Potter’s the Chamber of Secrets. Definitely my favourite in the series, a masterpiece of action and suspense.

6. If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?

Definitely Oscar Wilde! He’s my idol; I worship him since I was 11! He wasn’t only one of the greatest writers of all times, but an immensely brave man, who always refused to accept Victorian England’s bigot rules and stayed truth to his heart until the very end. And was ready to pay the price for it.

7. If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?

I would definitely go back to the 80s, where everything was so colourful (flashy colourful indeed) and everyone seemed so happy and careless (at least so it looks like in movies).

8. What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?

Shut up and listen.

9. What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?

I *cough* watch a lot, A LOT of cartoons. Disney classics, but also tons of Mangas, 3D Dreamworks animated stuff and even *cough*… Ben Ten. I love Ben Ten. Please don’t judge me.

10. When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?
A super hero with a secret identity.

Supernatural Freak

When paranormal expert Robyn Wise is offered an outrageous sum of money to cure a boy who is turning into a dead tree, she’s very sceptical. A politician ready to pay that much to make his son stop growing branches instead of hair? Come on! She’s more likely to be abducted by aliens. This is a trap. Or much worse. And, of course, it’s much worse.

The child is turning into a dark portal, created by a powerful entity determined to absorb Fairyland’s power. This means that not only queen Titania and her court are in danger, but the very balance of the magic fluxes.
Robyn’d rather stick a pencil in her own eye but. to learn how to destroy the portal, she has to sneak into the Wizardry Council, a place full of wizards who are hiding something—though it’s certainly not their dislike of her.
There, she discovers a terrible secret that could help to overthrow Fairyland’s enemies for good, but puts her in the midst of an ancient and deadly war, and not as a bystander, but as the main target.
