The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw by Suzy Turner – Interview & Giveaway

Welcome to Author Suzy Turner

Born in Yorkshire, England, Suzy moved to Portugal when she was ten, where she currently lives with her husband. She has always had a passion for reading, devouring books from an early age. After college, she landed a job as a trainee journalist for a local newspaper but preferred writing features and so she moved on to assistant editor for a local magazine before being hired as the features editor back at the newspaper. Finally, she worked as the editor of a magazine before leaving it all behind to write novels full time. She has since written three books (The Raven Saga) and the first book in the Morgan Sisters series, The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw.

Suzy’s website:

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I’d love to be able to fly. I’ve had that dream so many times and it makes me feel so utterly liberated. It would be awesome to wake up and know that it was real.

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
Other than to see my mother again (she died when I was 13), I’d like to meet an ancestor. My uncle discovered that we actually have a highwayman in our ancestry. His name was Sammy Morton (I actually used his name for a character in my previous series, The Raven Saga!). It would be cool to meet him.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Strawberry and banana smoothie made with home made almond milk (I have it every day as I’m gluten and lactose intolerant so my breakfast choices are limited). It is yummy though.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
You should read The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw because it will allow you to escape from everyday life and transport you beneath the city of London where paranormals and humans work to keep the city a safer place.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
This is my fourth book, but the first in a brand new series (the Morgan Sisters novels) so I have lots more planned, including a prequel novella about one of the lesser known characters. I’ve also almost completed a chick lit book called Forever Fredless. Oh, and I keep getting asked to write more books in The Raven Saga which I’m considering, even though it was only ever meant to be a trilogy!

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Receiving emails from readers who have loved my books. That is the ultimate high! Oh, and I met a teacher in Scotland who enjoyed my book so much that she recommended it to her students. I now have a little following somewhere near Edinburgh which is fantastic.

If you could jump in to a book and live in that world which would it be?
Hogwarts, no doubt about it!

What is your dream cast for your book?
Emma Jane Morgan – a young fresh faced Vivien Leigh lookalike
Lana Beth Morgan – the girl made famous from the opening of the London Olympics, Jasmine Breinburg
Declan Alexander – British actor Mark Killeen (I worked with Mark earlier this year and he inspired the book. Check out the very first stop in my tour to read more about him).
Eleanor Hayden-Jone – Maggie Smith and Emilia Fox

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
Z for Zachariah. I remember reading it at school and being blown away by it. I’d love to get my hands on a copy now.

Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?
I’d say Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die, because I listened to it all the time whilst writing the book.

What’s one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
To never give up, and to take no notice of negative criticism.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Anywhere at all? The USA… my husband and I absolutely love it there and the people are awesome. We’d choose somewhere with four proper seasons like New England (I hope I’m right!).

If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play the lead role and why?
Sandra Bullock, because I just love her. She’s an amazing actress.

If you were a super hero what would your kryptonite be?
Sugar! I did a detox back in July and I haven’t been able to have it since. It’s poison!

Favorite places to travel?
USA and Canada

In your wildest dreams, which author would you love to co-author a book with?
JK Rowling, that would be A.M.A.Z.I.N.G

Summer or Winter?
I would have always said winter, but since losing quite a bit of weight, I’m finding I’m really feeling the cold at the moment. Brrrrrrr.

The Ghost of Josiah Grimshaw

Adopted sisters Lana Beth and Emma Jane are polar opposites, but when the same strange ‘tattoo’ suddenly appears and winds its way up their bodies within days of each other, they soon realise there’s more to their relationship than they could ever have imagined.
Sent off to London for two weeks of ‘work experience’, the Morgan Sisters soon find themselves being initiated into the ancient Praxos Foundation, one that protects the innocent while fighting evil, both human and supernatural.
At the same time, Lana Beth and Emma Jane must also investigate why the sweet but sometimes pesky ghost of Josiah Grimshaw just won’t leave them alone.
