The Escape of Princess Madeline by Kirsten Pulioff – Author Interview

Welcome to Author Kirstin Pulioff

Kirstin Pulioff is a storyteller at heart.   Born and raised in Southern California, she moved to the Pacific Northwest to follow her dreams and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Forest Management.  Happily married and a mother of two, she lives in North Plains, Oregon, and enjoys being a stay at home mom.  When she’s not writing, she is busy with her kids, church and the family business.

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I would go into the past.  Probably medieval times… there is just something so romantic about that time period.  The dress, the chivalry, the adventures…

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
That is easy for me… I would fly.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
The Escape of Princess Madeline is an enchanting fairytale- an adventure to find freedom and love.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I am currently putting the final edits and polish on the sequel, “The Battle for Princess Madeline.”  Fingers crossed.

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
I have always written as my creative outlet… some people draw, some sing, some build, and I write.  I never really thought of it as a career option though until recently.  So often we tell our kids to go for their dreams, and not to limit themselves.  Recently, I realized this was a lesson for me as well.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?
Haha, this is a good one… in 3rd grade I wanted to be the first woman president.  In 5th grade I wanted to be a flight attendant.  In 8th grade I wanted to be an actress.  In 10th grade I wanted to be a forest ranger.  I don’t think I ever really settled on one career thing I wanted to be when I grew up for too long…

Favorite music?
When the kids are gone, it’s BonJovi… when the kids are home, it’s Disney movie songs.

Favorite smell?
Wow, I have never been asked that one before… Nothing beats that fresh smell of hiking in the forest… the combination of dirt, trees, flowers…

Oh fun!  I love the quick fire round.  Ok here it goes…

Hot or Cold?

Coke or Pepsi?
Diet Coke

Horror or Romance?

Action or Drama?

Summer or Winter?

Beach or Pool?
Beach… There’s something magical to me about the sound of the waves.

Shoes or Sandals?

Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts or one big expensive one?
Either…as long as it’s a thoughtful one.

What is your favorite way to spend a rainy day?
Building a super fort with the kids!
