Renegade by J.A. Souders – Interview & Giveaway

Welcome to Author J.A. Souders

J.A. Souders was born in the heartland with an overactive imagination and an over abundance of curiosity that was always getting her into trouble. She first began writing at the age of 13, when she moved to Florida and not only befriended the monsters under the bed, but created worlds for them to play together.

Because she never grew up, she decided she’d put her imaginary friends to work and started writing. She still lives in the land of sunshine and palm trees with her husband and their two children and is an active member of the RWA, CFRW, YARWA and SCBWI.

Interview

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?

I would definitely choose to go back to the past. There are so many time periods that I would love to see for myself. Specifically America during the steam age, Japan during the Edo period and the Elizabethan era. I love writing about the future, but I’m fairly certain I wouldn’t like what happens in the future and I’d hate to know my OWN future. LOL.

If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world which would it be?

Alice In Wonderland. It’s one of my favorite stories and I just love the world. Sure it would be a bit scary and freaky, and strange, but I think I’d fit in really well.

What is your dream cast for your book?

Evelyn: Taylor Swift
Gavin: Liam Hemsworth or Matt Lanter.
Mother: Cate Blanchett

If you could choose only one time period and place to live, when and where would you live and why?
I’d love to live in the 1920s America. While women’s suffrage really started way before this, this time period was really were it gathered steam and took off. I’d LOVE to have been a part of it, and to watch it all occur. Plus I used to listen to stories from my grandmother about later parts of this decade, and it was just all so interesting!

If you could be one of the Greek Gods, which would it be and why?
Athena.  Ever since I can remember, she’s been my favorite. I love that she was the goddess of War AND Wisdom among other things, but since War requires either huge amounts of wisdom or the lack of it, I think it’s quite fitting.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Besides where I live now? I actually really like where I live, but I suppose I’d like to have a house in the middle of the woods and next to a lake. That way I could gather inspiration from nature and chose to deal with people only when I WANT to deal with them. ; )

What is your favorite Quote?

“Keep Moving Forward.” It’s from Meet the Robinson’s, but it’s extremely motivating for me. No matter what happens in life, if you keep moving forward, nothing can keep you down for long.  And it’s a reminder that nothing, good or bad, lasts forever.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?

I wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember, but since I needed a “real” job, I decided early on I wanted to be a marine biologist as a fall back.  LOL. Who knew that knowledge would come in handy to become a writer. J

Who are your favorite authors of all time?

Christopher Pike, Suzanne Collins, and Rachel Vincent

How do you react to a bad review?

Well, they always sting. LOL. There’s nothing you can do about that, but I’ve been lucky and/or blessed and have had some really great reviews. I love that people have read my book and have felt strongly in one way or another and wrote a review. But usually I don’t read any of my reviews because ultimately those reviews aren’t for me. They’re for readers.  Negative reviews are just par for the course and I don’t let them bother me.  Some of the best books I’ve read are because someone wrote a negative review of it and I realized the same reasons they hated it, where the reasons I liked it.

Hot or Cold?
Cold.

Black or White?
Black (Besides purple it’s my favorite color.)

Horror or Romance?
Romance

City or Country?
Country

Harry Potter or Twilight?
Harry Potter

PC or Mac?
Mac

Beach or Pool?
Beach
