Book Review: Overprotected by Jennifer Laurens

Title: Overprotected

Ashlyn: A lonely society princess living in New York City.

Colin: Childhood enemy, now her protector.

Daddy hired him to be my bodyguard. Daddy thought I’d be safe. He thought I’d never fall in love. He thought he could keep me forever.

Charles: Obsessed with keeping her safe and keeping her his, he hires the one person he knows she could never fall in love with: Colin.

Daddy was wrong.

I’ve read and really enjoyed several of Jennifer Laurens’ books.  Overprotected won’t make my list of favorites but I don’t regret reading it. It’s a really quick read and since I am a huge fan of “forbidden love” stories I found it worth the time it took to read.

The relationship between Ashlyn and Colin never felt as believable as I hoped it would.  I kept waiting for some conflict and resolution over their past but never got what I was looking for.  While there was definitely a strong attraction between the two of them I never felt like I got the real romance/relationship aspect I hoped for.

What I enjoy the most was the family interactions and rebellious nature of Ashlyn in response to her overprotective father.  Perhaps because I have my own rebellious streak and don’t like being told what to do I could relate to this part of her personality.
