Welcome to Scott M. Hurst
Scott graduated from Brigham Young University and is currently enrolled in the School of Hard Knocks. He is a nomad who claims his home in Utah, California, Hawaii and wherever else in the world he happens to be. The closest thing he’s ever done to being a cowboy was dude ranching for a day. He couldn’t sit down for two weeks afterwards. Like Golden, he’s tall and skinny. He also shares some of Golden’s colorful vocabulary and his immense love for the gospel.
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
Definitely the past. I’d tell myself, “Invest in Microsoft, start writing earlier AND….GET READY TO TRAVEL IN A TIME MACHINE CUZ IT’S TOTALLY AAAWESOME!!!”
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
A Boy Scout Handbook, a leatherman pocketknife and a Costco.
If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
Julia Child! and, um, some other people. Honestly depends on the day. Some days I’d love to learn from the likes of a Gandhi or a Mother Teresa and some days I just want to shoot the breeze with my friends and family. Could we get a bigger table?
Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I’m working on a biography of my grandparents who survived through War II and there is a second J. Golden book on the burner, covering his years as a General Authority.
If you could be one of the Greek Gods, which would it be and why?
Poseidon. I LOVE the ocean. That and Percy Jackson is pretty cool 🙂
When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?
I don’t want to grow up, I’m a Toys R Us kid. I think I may have taken that slogan a little too much to heart. I still have more fun with my 9 year nephew’s Legos than he does!
If you were a super hero what would your kryptonite be?
Hot cherry pie. A robbery would be in progress and I’d be, “Oh, look! Pie!”
