Author Interview: The Star Child by Stephanie Keyes plus giveaway

Welcome to Author Stephanie Keyes

When I’m not writing, I work as a freelance instructional and graphic designer, along with my husband of ten years. My most important job of all, however, is being a mom to two little boys under the age of six and Riley, the Cockapoo Princess.

When I am not working, mothering someone, or writing, I am an avid reader. Naturally, my favorite genre is Fantasy, but I’ll read just about anything given the chance!

I’m also a gadget freak (if it’s new I have to have it) and a music addict. I play the clarinet, saxophone, and sing.

My first novel, The Star Child, will be released in September 2012 by Inkspell Publishing. I am now currently at work on the second book in The Star Child Trilogy, The Fallen Stars.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.

Because it’s about an ordinary guy, just like everyone else, who does extraordinary things.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Yes, I’m editing book two The Fallen Stars now and writing the third book in the Star Child series The Star Catcher.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Holding my book in my hands and saying, “I did this!” That was the moment hands down. Then I put it on my nightstand and kept waking up to look at it every couple of hours. Ironically I did that after my kids were born, too.

Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?
Into the Fire by Thirteen Senses is Kellen and Calienta’s love song.

What’s one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Don’t give up. Ever. Believe in the story that you want to tell.

What is your favorite Quote?
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
Eleanor Roosevelt

How do you react to a bad review?
I always look for feedback that I can take from it that might help with my next project. Aside from that, a person’s preference in terms of whether or not they like a book is subjective, just like the type of music. Bad reviews happen.

If you were a super hero what would your kryptonite be?

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
A private jet for my brother so that I could see him more often. 🙂

What’s your favorite season/weather?

How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I stirred the pot. You know, danced badly.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Powdered Sugar Donuts

Favorite music?
The Police

Coke or Pepsi?

The Star Child by Stephanie Keyes

The world is about to be cloaked in darkness. Only one can stop the night.

Kellen St. James has spent his entire life being overlooked as an unwanted, ordinary, slightly geeky kid. That is until a beautiful girl, one who has haunted his dreams for the past eleven years of his life, shows up spinning tales of a prophecy. Not just any old prophecy either, but one in which Kellen plays a key role.

Suddenly, Kellen finds himself on the run through a Celtic underworld of faeries and demons, angels and gods, not to mention a really ticked off pack of hellhounds, all in order to save the world from darkness. But will they make it in time?
