Author Interview & Book Giveaway: @Evertaster by Adam Glendon Sidwell

Welcome to Author Adam Sidwell

In between books, Adam Glendon Sidwell uses the power of computers to make monsters, robots and zombies come to life for blockbuster movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean, King Kong, Transformers and Tron. After spending countless hours in front of a keyboard meticulously adjusting tentacles, calibrating hydraulics, and brushing monkey fur, he is delighted at the prospect of modifying his creations with the flick of a few deftly placed adjectives. He’s been eating food since age 7, so feels very qualified to write this book. He once showed a famous movie star where the bathroom was. Adam currently lives in Los Angeles, where he can’t wait to fall into the sea.

What is one book everyone should read?
The Encyclopedia. Because then you’ll know EVERYTHING.

If you were a superhero what would your name be?
The Brow. Because my eyebrows connect in the middle so I have only one, just like Frida the Spanish artist.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
The power of breaking even the most iron of wills with a menacing stare from under my brow.

The Brow.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
You must read Evertaster because it will change the way you taste every morsel of food you will eat for the rest of your life.

How did you know you should become an author?
Because when I was making movies, I kept saying to myself, “Dude, I really want to tell the story.” I was working on the film King Kong in New Zealand when I realized I wanted to tell my own stories, so I took a break to go write.  I wrote Evertaster between work on Speed Racer and Transformers II.

How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I ran screaming from the house out into the cul-de-sac. We had just released the book, and it hit the Amazon top 100 on the day of its release. The neighbor came out to see what the commotion was, and when I told her, she was delighted, congratulated me, and went inside to buy two more!

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Blueberry cheesecake with graham cracker. But that’s just for today. Tomorrow might be something else entirely.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
There will be two follow up novels to complete the story arc for evertaster. Evertaster the Delicious City and Evertaster the Final Season. I’ve started work on the second in the series and outlined the third book. There may also be a short story or novella popping up soon in the Evertaster world. In the meantime I’ve got a manuscript I’ve finished that has to do with TV and tech-savvy pirates. There are a few follow ups in that series I have outlined as well. There are also a few more books I have in mind and have started writing that I can’t wait to dive in and finish.

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
Reading stories about great glass elevators and hobbits. Also my friend fell off a thirty foot cliff once, and ever since then I wanted to write. It’s okay. He lived. He even won a tennis tournament right after that. Then more things happened, like meeting gorillas in the Congo, and I felt like stuff like that is too good not to put in some kind of story. Life inspired  me I guess.

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
I loved the chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. It was my first intro to fantasy and magical places, and I never wanted to go back.

Evertaster by Adam Glendon Sidwell

A legendary taste. Sought after for centuries. Shrouded in secrecy.
When eleven year-old Guster Johnsonville rejects his mother’s casserole for the umpteenth time, she takes him to the city of New Orleans to find him something to eat. There, in a dark, abandoned corner of the city, they meet a dying pastry maker who tells them of a legendary recipe called the Gastronomy of Peace — a recipe created hundreds of years ago, shrouded in secrecy, sought after by connoisseurs everywhere and rumored to be so delicious that whoever tastes it will never want to eat anything else again.
Guster thinks this might be just what he needs — until the ruthless Gastronimatii, a cult of armed and sinister chefs — attack the Johnsonvilles in their home. Guster, his clever sister Mariah, his mother Mabel, and his two brothers are forced to flee for their lives and set out across the world in search of the One Recipe’s ingredients. On an adventure that will take them to ancient ruins, faraway jungles and forgotten caves, the Johnsonvilles discover that their search for the One Recipe is more than just a quest to satisfy Guster’s cravings — it is a quest that could change humanity forever.
