Author Interview & Book Giveaway: Thirty-Six by Daron Fraley

Welcome back to Author Daron Fraley

Daron is the creator of Thirty-Six and author of the first book in the multi-author series. Originally from Wyoming, Daron has lived in the Midwest and in many towns and cities in the Mountain States region.
Writer by night, Senior Data Center Engineer by day, he has traveled to more than half of the biggest cities in the United States, one of his favorites being Chicago. The architecture, the people, and the regional foods all fascinate him. But his favorite places on earth are those where he can relax, think, and dream.
Not yet an expert world traveler, he has been to France, Switzerland, the Bahamas, St. Thomas, San Juan, Canada, and Mexico. He loves the Caribbean, and wonders how a small-town boy from Wyoming ever got the chance to fall in love with the ocean.
Previously published works include The Thorn and Water and Other Stories.

Interview:
Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Heaven’s Garden, the sequel to my first novel, The Thorn, is well underway. I hope to have it completed by the end of the year. I’ve also started another book in the Thirty-Six series, which will be a mid to late 2013 project. But Thirty-Six is a multi-author series, so readers won’t have to wait that long to see the next one released. Do you want to know who the other authors are? You’ll have to go to the series website and see. 🙂

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Ooh. That’s a hard one. Can I have a private island that has deciduous forest with no poisonous creatures, and a white sand beach on the edge of a lagoon filled with fish waiting to be caught, and a Thai restaurant, and a university library?

When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?
A geologist. Or an archaeologist.

Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is….
The Way of Kings, by Brandon Sanderson

Favorite smell?

I think it might be Frankincense.

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Natural Vanilla Bean, home-made.

Sweet or Salty?

Have you ever had salted caramels? Yeah. Then you know my answer.

Harry Potter or Twilight?
No contest. I get to choose between two series endings: One where a young man sacrifices himself so that his friends might live, and then comes back to clean house, and another story where an epic battle is about to happen between rival vampires . . . and NOTHING happens besides them staring at each other before parting ways. And Edward creeps me out. Team Jacob all the way.

Beach or Pool?
Beach. Preferably Caribbean. And not having to be back to work. Ever. Well, maybe an easy job. I really want to sell coconuts and read books in between sales.

Cats or Dog?
Why does there get to be more than one cat? Why not two dogs? Or three dogs? Actually, I prefer cat.

Facebook or Twitter?
Twitter. Definitely.

Favorite quote from a movie?
“My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts or one big expensive one?
Yes.

What is you favorite way to spend a rainy day?
Reading. With the window open, of course. You have to be able to smell the rain.

Thirty-Six

When Aaron Cohen buys a souvenir from an antiques store in Lyon, France, and then sees the police raid the store right after he leaves, he has no idea that this is only the beginning of his troubles.
Back home in Chicago, Aaron is stalked by an old man from the antiques store. Mandie, a single mother in his apartment complex, has asked that they just be friends, but Aaron can’t help developing strong feelings for her, especially now that she is being harassed by her abusive ex-husband. And in the midst of all his emotional turmoil, the souvenir he purchased turns out to be an ancient holy relic that triggers shared dreams and prophetic visions.
A mysterious dream shared with a jewel smuggler whose arrest makes the nightly news. A nightmare of horrifying tornadoes shared with Ethan, Mandie’s eight-year-old son. A dream shared with Mandie that shows Aaron her true feelings for him.
And visions . . .
Visions of historical events, centuries in the past. Visions of the Lamed Vovniks. Visions of dangerous possibilities to come.
And if Aaron doesn’t get to her in time, Mandie will die.
