Interview:
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
Definitely the future. We’re all about what’s next…

If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
We’d love a table full of great writers. Nothing is more fun than a dinner party filled with loquacious authors. We’re going to go with people who are all alive (as choosing from the dead would be too difficult), so we’re thinking Martin Amis, Junot Diaz, Aravind Adiga, J. K. Rowling, Judy Blume and we’ll be serving paella.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
We’d want caffeine, our laptops and unlimited power (for the laptops).

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
We’d love to read people’s minds. We’re always trying but it never seems to work.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Stacy: green tea (as lame as it sounds, it’s true). Valerie: mint chocolate chip.

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
This is a toughie as there are so many but we’re going to go with J.D. Salinger, provided he’d be pleasant enough to chat. We didn’t invite him to the dinner party because he’s a bit of a hermit and we didn’t think he’d play well with others.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Stacy: I eat oat crackers with a soy latte every single morning, unless I’m travelling, in which case I usually have a latte and fruit salad. Valerie: I eat oatmeal or greek yogurt and a cup of coffee.

Night owl, or early bird?
We’re both early birds.

One food you would never eat?
Neither of us would ever eat McDonalds hamburgers.

Pet Peeves?
People cracking gum.

Skittles or M&Ms?
Definitely M&M’s

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Because it reads like the best movie you’ve ever seen!

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Between us, we’ve got three new books in the works, one screenplay and a short story for Amazon Singles. Our goal is to write a YA series.

What is your dream cast for your book?
Since the book was bought by Paramount Pictures, hopefully, it’s not too much of a dream, more of a reality. We’d love to see Shainlene Woodley play Kylie and Josh Hutcherson play Max.

Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
We both see bits and pieces of ourselves in Kylie.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
The best writing comes in the rewriting.

Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is…
John Green’s THE FAULT IN OUR STARS.

Favorite places to travel?
Asia.

If you had 24 hours alone how would you spend it?
Reading.

In your wildest dreams, which author would you love to co-author a book with?
We’d love to write a book with John Green.

From What I Remember

KYLIE: Mexico?  What a nightmare! I should be putting the finishing touches on my valedictorian speech. Graduation is TODAY! Wait! Is this a wedding band on my finger??
MAX: It started with Kylie’s laptop and a truck full of stolen electronics and it ended in Ensenada. It was hot, the way she broke us out like some chick in an action movie. But now we’re stranded here, with less than twenty-four hours before graduation.
WILL: Saving Kylie Flores from herself is kind of a full-time occupation. Luckily, I, Will Bixby, was born for the job. And when I found out she was stuck in Mexico with dreamy Max Langston, sure, I agreed to bring their passports across the border – but there’s no reason to rush back home right away. This party is just getting started.
LILY: This cannot be happening. It’s like some cruel joke. Or a bad dream. I close my eyes and when I reopen them, they’re still there. Max and Kylie Flores, freak of the century. In bed together. If Kylie thinks I’m giving him up without a fight, she’s dead wrong.
