If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
I think about this every time I watch Survivor because they always have that one luxury item they can bring and I always wonder what mine would be. I think I’d bring a Norton’s Anthology of American Literature so I could immerse myself in great writing, and it would take a lonnnnnng time to get through it. Practically speaking, I’d probably also want a hunting knife and a box of matches. Wait, no. Steel and flint!

What is one book everyone should read?
To Kill a Mockingbird. I gave my oldest son the middle name Atticus because I love that book so much.

What’s your favorite season/weather?
Strangely enough for someone who lives in Southern California and doesn’t see much of it, I love the fall. I love the smell and the colors and the cool air. I think it smells like adventures. Every fall since I was a little kid, when I feel that first nip in the air, I think of pirates. I have no explanation for this.

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?
Hands down, The Bachelor. I tell my husband it’s research and yet I still get sucked in. So embarrassing.

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Chocolate. Except I don’t like chocolate cake or ice cream. In all other cases, definitely chocolate.

Text or Talk?
I have this thing where I feel super awkward when it’s time to hang up the phone. It’s like I don’t know quite how to end the call or something. For that reason, TEXT!

Shoes or Sandals?
I’m kind of obsessed with shoes. I have lots and lots and lots of pairs. But I also live near the beach and chase small children all day so I mostly live in flip flops. Put me down for sandals.

City or Country?
I’ve spent a lot of time in both. I could easily live in either forever. I like the peace and calm of the country. I love the vitality of the city. If forced to choose, I’d probably say the city, thereby offending a long line of country-dwelling ancestors.

Favorite music?
I alternate between classic rock (the Stones, Zepplin, etc.) and what I’ve discovered is called “Alternative Adult Contemporary” like Mumford and Sons. I kind of hate the Adult Contemporary label, but since it’s the “alternative” version, I guess I’ll make peace with it.

What is you favorite way to spend a rainy day?
Making soup! I love to eat soup and the second a rain drop hits the ground, I’ve got an excuse to make it.

Jessie Taylor is furious when her roommate secretly posts her picture on the dating website LDS Lookup — furious, that is, until she spends all night instant messaging Ben Bratton. Their first date is a smashing success (literally), but Ben’s overall awesomeness can’t save Jessie from having to deal with Craig, her competitive coworker. Jessie spends long office hours finishing projects and putting out fires, but while her performance wows her boss, it only makes Ben skittish— after a failed engagement to an up-and-coming lawyer, he’s not about to pair up with someone who’s married to her job. Will Jessie figure out how to be true to herself and take her big chance at love before it’s gone with a click of the mouse?
