Author Interview & Book Giveaway: I’ll Take the Fat One by C.D. Shelton

Welcome to Author C.D. Shelton

Professor of Biology, C. D. Shelton has inspired his college students for many years by sharing his passion and knowledge for plant life, nature, medical and health related topics.
In his first four novels he uses his extensive background in biology to write about plant and animal life in the jungles of the Amazon. In his latest novel, I’LL TAKE THE FAT ONE, he uses his knowledge of how our bodies work metabolically, to write a novel about a doctor and his weight loss clinic by incorporating factual weight control information.
C. D. Shelton, a life long educator, began writing novels after being inspired by, motivational speaker, Earl Nightingale’s CD. The CD was a Christmas gift in 2008. It wasn’t until then that he discovered his hidden talent and love of writing.
Since then, C.D. Shelton has written ten novels (five published), one non-fiction kid’s book with an accompanying Workbook for educators. And most recently, he has written several short ebooks on different health related topics.

Interview:

If you were stranded on a desert island what three things would you want with you?
If we’re answering with reality in mind then they would be:

1) A broadcast radio 2) Dental floss 3) Unlimited source of water and food
If we’re answering with fantasy in mind then they would be:
1) A magic lamp 2) My beautiful wife 3) Unlimited source of food and water.

Night owl, or early bird?
When I was many decades younger, it was irrelevant what time of day it was…I was good to go. But, with the passage of time, I definitely do my best work in the morning hours.

What is one food you would never eat?
Deep fried pig skin, “chicharrones”.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Yes, I’m partially finished on a book about the western frontier days and the Erie Canal. Write more e-books.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Many years ago, it was bacon and eggs. But now it’s oatmeal, hands down.

What is your favorite Quote?
It’s one from my father-in-law: “Eat to live not live to eat.”

Which authors have influenced you the most?
Only a few have super impressed me. But Louis L’amour would be one of them. When I read science fiction it would be Jack Vance.

Favorite music?
Classical! Rachmaninov, Mozart and Wagner in that order.

Favorite Sport?
Tennis.

Print or e-book
A few years back, it was all print. However, I think our future is in the e-book.

Favorite quote from a movie?
I have several: “Frankly lady, I don’t give a damn.” (Gone With The Wind, Clark Gable)

“Go ahead punk, make my day.” (Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood)
“Badges? We don’t need no stinkin badges.” (Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Humphrey Bogart)
