Author Interview & Book Giveaway: The Veil by K.S. Collier

Welcome to Author K.S. Collier

I was born in New Orleans, and lived in Kenner, Louisiana. For the past twelve years, I have resided in the Pensacola area with my husband and family. I love gummy bears, good music of all varieties, and my favorite stuffed animal is an ape in a leather jacket (which has a special meaning). I love getting together with friends, laughing(alot), walks on the beach with hot chocolate in the winter, and I love to write.

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
Definitely the future. I would love to see what everyone’s wearing, who’s who, what great movies have been made, and what great books have been written.

If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
Mitt Romney, Stephenie Meyer, J. K. Rowling, Dean Koontz and Stephen King. What a dinner that would be. I would have so many questions, there wouldn’t be time enough for the answers. I’d rather have them one on one.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
My own personal Genie with three wishes, my husband, and bottled water.

What is one book everyone should read?
There are so many good books, how could I possibly choose ONE? I know…The Veil by K. S. Collier
Actually, I love-love Harry Potter.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Immortal with the power to teleport and have telepathic abilities.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Eggs and grits would be my choice.

Night owl, or early bird?
Night Owl. I accomplish so much more late at night when there are no interruptions.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Yes, I am working on the sequel, which should be available by December, and will continue to write until there is no more.

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I can remember. Computers made the deciding factor, especially laptops. I totally admire writers who wrote by candlelight with pen and paper. To keep their thoughts in order would have been a monumental endeavor. I love being able to type as fast as my thoughts flow.

What is your dream cast for your book?
Kirsten Prout as Tommie, Taylor Lautner as Doug, Alex Pettyfer as William (Tommie’s twin), Hayden Christensen as Adam (Scientist brother of Tommie & William), Bella Thorne as Allyson, and well, you get the picture.

If you could be one of the Greek Gods, which would it be and why?
Isis, because of her immortal qualities. She brings light, knowledge, change and transformation wherever she goes. She is love.

What is your favorite Quote?
I made my own. “If you can’t quote the quote right, then don’t quote the quote.”

How did you know you should become an author?
It’s always been in the back of my mind just waiting to make its grand entrance. When the time was right, I didn’t waste a minute. I love that song by The Byrds “Turn, Turn, Turn” There’s a time and season for everything. I feel this is my season.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Never be a quitter. Endure to the end in all your endeavors.

What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
The Hunger Games

If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?
J. K. Rowling, hands down. Truly, she is an awesome writer with the most creative imagination of anyone I’ve read.

What do you do in your free time?
Write and learn more on the craft of writing, and I read.

If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
“The Stress Always Looks Better In Someone Else’s Backyard”

Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again.
Let’s say I do what most people do to start the day. I generally don’t stop from morn until evening, and that’s when I write, read, and blog for a minimum of 5 hours a day for at least 5 days a week.

Harry Potter or Twilight?
Can’t choose there. I love them both.
