If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I would have to choose the future. I already know what happened yesterday, which resulted in what’s happening today, but what I don’t know is what will happen tomorrow. Why go back on myself when I can go forward? And as they say, ‘You can’t change the past, but you can always change the future.’
If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
Carl Jung
William Shakespeare
Michael Jackson
Forest Whitaker
John F. Kennedy

What is one book everyone should read?
There are so many. I would have to recommend 1984 written by George Orwell in 1949. It’s a brilliant read. A classic dystopian novel set in London. It features themes and words that have become part of our everyday lives. Where do you think the idea for the television show, Big Brother, came from?

Remember: Big Brother is watching you.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Dimension Travel. I’d love to explore the universe by travelling from one dimension to another – a multidimensional being. Frankly, I’m tired of dancing to the same tune. This world just isn’t big enough for my imagination. As the great Benjamin Disraeli said: “Life is too short to be small.”

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
Jane Austen. She inspired me to become a writer, so, of course, she would have to be the person I would like to meet. When I read Pride and Prejudice (my favourite book) at the age of fourteen, I fell in love with the art of storytelling. Austen created such lifelike characters. Mrs. Bennet and Mr. Darcy are one of my favourite fictional characters.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
You’ll explore a world where you’ve never been before.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Yes. There are other books in the works. Talisman Of El is book one in a planned trilogy which is also titled Talisman Of El. The sequel will be release in 2013.

Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?
Theme song for Talisman Of El: Evanescence – Bring Me To Life
Theme song for Charlie Blake: Owl City – Fireflies
Theme song for Alex Dench: Adele – Set Fire To The Rain

Who are your favorite authors of all time?
Jane Austen, George Orwell, J.M. Barrie, William Shakespeare, Roald Dahl.

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Whenever I’m stressed about something, I remember something someone once said to me. It was, “Earth is not your home. You’re just passing through.” In other words, the problems you are facing right now are temporary. They are already behind you.

What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
Movies I’m looking forward to:
Premium Rush starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who, might I add, is drop dead gorgeous).
The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Books I’m looking forward to:
Tempest by Julie Cross.
Pure by Julianna Baggott.

Write a Haiku about your book
From the earth he came
A human, he resembles,
Human he is not.

Harry Potter or Twilight?
Harry Potter hands down. The books are magical.

Talisman of El

One Planet.
Two Worlds.
Population: Human … 7 billion.
Others … unknown.
When 14-year-old Charlie Blake wakes up sweating and gasping for air in the middle of the night, he knows it is happening again. This time he witnesses a brutal murder. He’s afraid to tell anyone. No one would believe him … because it was a dream. Just like the one he had four years ago – the day before his dad died.
Charlie doesn’t know why this is happening. He would give anything to have an ordinary life. The problem: he doesn’t belong in the world he knows as home.
He belongs with the others.
