INTERVIEW:
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I would go back to the Roman Empire. In The 58th Keeper Archy has to travel back in time, and he takes two good friends with him. I did as much research as I could, so that the readers get a pretty good feel for that particular period. I have always wondered if we have progressed or regressed since Roman times. By that, I mean the Romans were ingenious–they invented the aqueducts, concrete, underfloor heating and roadways, but they also burnt people alive, slaughtered animals and stabbed each other in the back…all before breakfast. There were some brilliant minds like Marcus Aurelius, Julius Caesar and Epictetus but they were also brutal and unforgiving–leaders like Lucius Commodus and Caligula. I wonder where are we today by comparison?

If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
1. I’d like to have met my grandfather. Apparently he was quite a character that owned a number of businesses in Cheddar, England.
2. I’m sure Mick Jagger could tell a few good stories
3. Henry the VIII
4. Mahatma Ghandi, to keep the conversation balanced
5. My wife–I’m on this trip with her. (Although she would probably kick Mick Jagger out and swap for him Michelangelo…pfft!)

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
The power of flight. To be able to fly off to wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted and at great speed would be a Superpower I would use all day and all night.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Ben and Jerrys make a chocolate one called Phish Food – It really should be illegal. I can wolf a whole tub and not even feel shame when I lick the lid.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Archy is an ordinary boy who gets thrown into extraordinary situations, and it’s how he handles matters and the characters he meets that make the story a fun read.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I have written a short story series titled, The Caldecott Chronicles about an Earl and a teenage girl called Saffy who defend their property from Zombies.
It’s set in Victorian England. I’m thrilled as I just got an endorsement this morning from a New York Times bestselling author.

“The Caldecott Chronicles is gruesome, elegant, witty and a hell of a lot of fun. This is why zombie fiction continues to surprise even the most jaded reader!” –
Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling and multiple Bram Stoker award winner.

What’s one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Read from Monday to Wednesday and write from Thursday to Saturday. Go wild Sunday.

What is your favorite Quote?
Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon ‘em…”

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
My mother, when she gave me advice on how to talk to girls. “Be yourself.”

Favorite Food?
Indian Curry

What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
I am looking forward to Sherlock Holmes #2 and hope they keep up the intrigue, rapport and pace of the first one. We’ll see.

Wood Smoke

Favorite sport?
