Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.

“The plot and storyline are great, and the characters strong… the James’ go full-out… If you enjoy angels, ‘forbidden’ romance and dashing heroes, then this should be added to your TBR.” USA TODAY

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?

I’m currently writing a Jane Austen-themed novel for Penguin Books. I have many goals, but two are to have my novel THE SECRET DIARIES OF CHARLOTTE BRONTË made into a film, and to turn my novel FORBIDDEN into a series.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.

The emails I get from readers all over the world, telling me how much my books have meant to them.

Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?

There is a lot of music in my novel NOCTURNE, and the theme song is “My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose.” You can watch a beautiful audio/video of the song here. If FORBIDDEN has a theme song it’s “Stick With Me Baby,” since Claire and Alec sing it as a duet in a key scene together.

What’s one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?

Study the craft of writing, write what you love to read, re-write and then re-write again, believe in yourself, and never give up on your dream.

What is your favorite Quote?

“Twenty years from now you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did.  So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore.  Dream.  Discover.” —Mark Twain

When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?

A writer.

If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play the lead role and why?

Laura Linney. People keep telling me that I look like her. I am SO flattered!

What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?

No matter who you are, what you do, or what you wish for … if you press on, keep your goals in sight, and put in the hard work, you can achieve your dreams—no matter how impossible or unlikely they may seem to someone else!

What was your favorite children’s book?

A tie between Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden.

If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?

Anything by Jane Austen. Because not only are first editions of her novels priceless, but they were all published anonymously in her lifetime… so anything signed by her would be unbelievably rare, precious, and infinitely valuable.

What do you do in your free time?

Watch movies, go to the theater, play games with family and friends, take walks and jacuzzis.

Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again.

I wake up, turn on the computer, do email, do the treadmill for half an hour, have brunch, and then write until dinner time. After dinner, I hang out with my husband for a couple of hours and then go back to writing, promotion, answering fan mail, or website-related work until way, way past my bedtime.

How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?

Gave a tea party, Jane Austen-style.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?

You mean assuming I already have food, water, shelter, and antibiotics?  The 3 things I’d want are my husband, a cell phone with an endless charge and a perfect signal, and—while we’re waiting to be rescued–a laptop with an endless battery and a perfect connection to the internet and my Kindle. J

What is one book everyone should read?

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

What is you favorite way to spend a rainy day?

Reading a good book… or doing my best to write one!

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

Eternal Life.

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?

Abraham Lincoln.

Who are your favorite authors of all time?

A tie between Jane Austen and Charlotte Brontë.

Night owl, or early bird?

Night owl. Totally.

Favorite quotes from a movie?

Do, or do not. There is no ‘try’. (Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back)

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)
