Book Giveaway & Author Interview: Life Blood by HK Savage

Welcome to Author H.K. Savage.
Bio:

HK Savage has been a voracious reader of anything she could get her hands on going back to the second grade when she would set her alarm two hours early to read before school. Her passion for the written word has continued and flowed into writing going back nearly as far.
Currently, HK is a mother, wife and aspiring black belt in Karate as well as an avid dressage rider with the cutest teddy bear of a horse in existence. Her three dogs, a Doberman puppy and two ancient Doxies keep her busy when she is not writing or working.
HK has been an editor for several newsletters over the years, her favorite being for Heifer International where her ideas were put into effect and complimented by those on high. Currently her editing skills have been focused on her friends and clients in the writing world.
Paranormal is a favorite genre as well as science fiction and the possibilities we have not yet realized. Her favorite premise: “what if?”

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
My spring release is changed from Whispers (now a fall release) to The Path. The blurb is as follows and it received a 4 out of 4 star review from RT Book Reviews:

Magick is real. And there is a secret world complete with its own agency, Veritas, to control those who would wield their power over “regulars”, or threaten the secrecy that keeps them all safe from the persecution that nearly destroyed them. For Cassie, a mixed blood witch, it’s the only world she’s ever known though she’s never embraced her role as agent for Veritas. For Drew, a witch born to a non-magickal family, it answers so many of his questions. It is also the cause of so much loss and pain. And now, as he and Cassie attempt to find his missing brother, rumored to be working with a rogue witch and cult leader, it threatens to take the last of his family. Or will magick save it?

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
Reading stories that left me a little unsatisfied. I wanted to create my perfect story.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Hearing from people I’ve never met that they enjoyed my books and loved the characters. That they wanted to meet these people.

When I was young, The Black Stallion, when I got older, Tell Tale Heart

What’s one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Don’t give up. There are so many new ways of getting a book out there now, don’t let agents’ rejections get you to quit.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Scotland

When you were little, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?
A soldier- I liked the uniforms. After that, a writer.

Hidden talent?
I can talk to anyone and put myself in their shoes. I guess you’d say empathy.

Life Blood

Foggy memories and a familiar stranger…
Ava Brandt’s only memories of her dead father come to her in her dreams, at least she assumes the man she dreams rescued her from the dark, scary place was her father. Ava assumes her dream is just that, a fantasy, until a chance meeting with a stranger brings her memory of being abducted as a child and taken to a lab flooding back. The discovery only serves to awaken a greater mystery.

Ben Pearson is the son of a historic physician who unlocked the key to aging two hundred years ago before being killed by his partner, Dr. Bruder, out of greed.

Ben, able to maintain his body in an ageless state with the help of his father’s research, has pursued Dr. Bruder through centuries only to come up short of catching him time and again.

Together Ava and Ben must work together to end the doctor’s sociopathic streak of murder and experimentation on unwitting subjects in his twisted hunt for the missing piece of the formula for immortality only Ben holds. Or is it the doctor who will finally win when he finds the one thing Ben wants more than revenge?
