A Short History of a Tall Jew by Dennis Danziger

Philip Lachman, a 39-year-old public high school teacher, dad, and divorcee, is looking for true love. More specifically, he is looking for a new wife who will put up with his teenage son, a budding communist who’s into designer shoes, his teenage daughter who dreams of being the queen of an oil-rich country, and his ex-wife who’s determined to make his life miserable. And it gets worse from there. Philip has no leads, no numbers, no idea where to begin. But how hard can it possibly be? Any kind, caring, competent woman will do. So long as she’s not an actress. But in glittery, glamorous, how-much-money-are-you-worth L.A., Philip–who barely eeks out a living as a public high school teacher––soon finds himself on the ride of his life.
A SHORT HISTORY OF A TALL JEW is a beautifully crafted, charming and laugh-out-loud page-turner that takes on both the trivialities and truths of life, love, religion, and the public education system with a wink of the eye. It’s a book for any reader who’s ever struggled with the vagaries of the human heart, or maybe just being human.
