Author Interview & 2 Book Giveaway: Immortal Archives Series by Devon Ashley

Welcome to Author Devon Ashley

I’m a single mom, microbiologist, baker of sweet, sweet desserts, crazy cat lover, book aficionado, a knitter with a yarn stash that overflows my home (srsly, I have a problem), M&M hoarder, crazy dreamer, and am in love, love, love with the show Psych. And I cannot get the theme song from The Wonder Pets out of my head (if you’re a parent of a young one, you understand my pain…freakin’ Ming-Ming).

1. If you could choose a theme song for your book, what would it be?
Redesign Me by VersaEmerge

2. What is your favorite quote?
It’s never too late to become what you may have been. – George Eliot

3. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Palau. Sure I’d miss the grocery store and (gasp!) the local coffee brewery, but the blue lagoons, bungalows, jellyfish lake and endless scuba diving would totally make up for that.

5. How do you react to a bad review?
As an author, you know going in you can’t please everyone. Plenty of people won’t like your style of writing, your number of pov’s, your characters, your story…the list is endless. When that happens, you just remind yourself that you didn’t write this story for that person, and you focus on the people who did enjoy it. Even the most successful books out there have their fair share of haters. And having experienced this personally as a writer, I’ve learned that bad reviews should never play a deciding factor in whether or not I choose to read a book.

6. What movie are you looking forward to this year?
Obviously, the final Harry Potter and Breaking Dawn. I’d also like to see Super 8, Apollo 18 and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

7. If you could have a copy of any signed novel, what would it be?
My absolute favorite book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

8. One food you would never eat?

9. What is your dream cast for your book?
How about I show you?

Abby: Rachel McAdams
Noel: Skeet Ulrich
Emily: Emma Stone
Valerie: Rachel Evan Wood
Gaius: Derek Hough (debuts in Metamorphosis)

10. If you could be one of the Greek Gods, which would you be and why?
I don’t know, the Greek Gods tend to mess with everyone just out of sheer boredom. But if I had to choose, I’d wanna have a little fun too. (which is apparent if you read my novels…I tend to run my characters through the ringer). But if I had to choose, I’d prefer Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, Reason and Warfare. I love a girl that’s smart and knows how to kick butt!

11. If you could meet one person who has died, who would it be?
I’d say Elvis but he’s not really dead, right? Right! Sooooo, how about I double up? I would love the combo deal of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. Those two are so freakin’ funny when they’re together.

12. Tell us in one sentence why we should read Ordained.
Temperamental red-head returns to the school where she already murdered five advisors, fights for control of her body against an inner evil, and prepares to re-battle a mythological demon with a grudge.

Normally, the school creates the hunters – not the monsters.
Abby Sorrensten likes to play rough. Ripping the horns off the foreheads of demons, manipulating lightning and setting things on fire with the flick of your wrist can give you a serious rush. So she probably wasn’t the best choice for the Order’s experimental training program. Thirteen years of isolation, lack of affection and a bruised and broken body from horrendous training sessions creates more than just an exceptional fighter. It creates an evil within – an evil responsible for several deaths the night she left.
Two hundred years later Abby resurfaces as the very thing the Order trained her to kill: a vampire. A mythical demon has set his sights on the school and only the ordained hunter has the powers to face it. Unbeknownst to the Order, Abby’s their precious ordained one and their only chance for survival. As much as she would love to leave them hanging, she’s not willing to risk the life of Emily, a fellow friend and hunter also fed up with the organization.

But for Abby, locking herself away in a fortress with angry descendents of those she killed causes suspicions and tensions to run high. Abby must learn the demon’s weaknesses for battle before the Order learns hers.

Change is not always a good thing…

Some survived the battle – but not without a price. As one heart starts up again, another dies down. The pure vampires learn their immortality isn’t as strong as they’d thought – the status of their hearts determines their vulnerability. And when the truth gets out, a betrayal by one of their own will cost more lives.
