Author Interview & Book Giveaway: Not Just for Breakfast Anymore by PV Lundqvist

Welcome to Author PV Lundqvist:

Father of three, loves his family, pot-bellied pigs, and baseball — in that order. PV Lundqvist is his nom de ‘net. Has a Master’s in Creative Writing from Emerson, member of SCBWI, and a former social worker. Blogs about his life and his writing.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
To find out whether twelve-year-old Benny will face his bully or get kicked out of town, all because of a pet he didn’t ask for.
If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
Well-oiled baseball glove, a ball, and cap. Then I’d challenge the next island to a game.
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
A reader wrote me about how much he enjoyed reading my book to his young son. But, he asked me, could I please explain to his child why they can’t have a pig in an apartment! Priceless.
What is your favorite Quote?
“Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.” Goethe
If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play the lead role and why?
David Spade. I’m constantly being mistake for him. At my brother’s wedding, a member of the bride’s family actually asked for my autograph.
Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
The main character is a boy with a ‘funny name’. He cringes whenever roll is called in school. That’s me.
What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Don’t get depressed, get busy.
Which authors have influence you most how?
Jack Gantos. He uses voice so well to tell stories—not about characters—but through them. Their eyes.
Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I have a YA book coming out soon. It is about a high school forced to become part reality TV and part social experiment. And before the end, a senior has to decide between the love of his girlfriend and what he thinks is right. I’ll let you know when it’s available.

Not Just for Breakfast Anymore:

Benny wants a pet-a dog or a cat. You know, the kind of pet every else has. But other kids don’t have his mom. She likes to do things differently. So Benny doesn’t know what to expect when he first opens the pet carrier. Certainly not that his neighbors will want to kick his family out of town-he just got here! And he was just about to make the baseball team, too. Will he fight for his pet or back down?
