Interview:

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I would actually go to the past. I’d hang out with the flappers of the 1920’s.

What is one book everyone should read?
My House in Umbria by William Trevor

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
If you like adventure, mayhem, romance, unique creatures, and traveling to new worlds, this book is for you!

Favorite Candy?
Gummi Bears (or any sour chewy candy)

Who or what inspired you to become an author?
George Lucas actually inspired me to be in the creative field and write. He was born and raised in my hometown. I remember watching all 3 of the original films on a Saturday afternoon, eating pizza, when my mum said something that has stayed with me. “Kate” she said, “Did you know the man who created these stories is from here?” That really showed me that even if you’re from a small town (like I am, and so was George Lucas), you could still do great things if you believe in the talents you have. Never give up because you can go places!

Skittles or M&Ms?
Sour Skittles!

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?
The Hills and The City on MTV. I watch it mostly for the styles they wear and get inspiration for my own wardrobe. The drama in those shows seems a little over the top.

How do you react to a bad review?
I just try to take it with a grain of salt. Everyone has his or her own likes & dislikes. Art is very subjective. You just can’t take it personal because most ‘negative’ reviews aren’t personal. It’s not an attack on the writer. The reader just couldn’t get invested in the book or story. As an author, it’s our job to be respectful of those opinions; cause you never know, they may be the one buying your next book and raving about it!

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Rocky Road

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I would love to be telekinetic. It would be awesome to move things with my mind, like being able to have a pencil on the opposite end of the house be easily accessible.

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
A village in the country in France or Ireland

Mieradome by Kate O’Hegarty:

MIERADOME pulls you into a uniquely different fantasy world of faeries, a different take on the Alice in Wonderland concept. The novel revolves around a fifteen year old girl named Amavia, who believes she is human, but comes to find out that a bit more magic runs through her veins within the land of Mieradome. Slowly who Amavia is begins to unravel to show the truth; the truth that she just may be the evil that the faeries and creatures of Mieradome need to destroy. This is the first novel in a series, and gives a glimpse of what is to come for Amavia, her friends Thewlis & Inocian, and the rest of Mieradome’s cast of characters.
