Book Giveaway & Author Interview: The Upside of Down by Rebecca Talley

Welcome to Author Rebecca Talley!

Rebecca Talley and her husband, Del, are the parents of ten wildly creative, multi-talented children. They live in rural CO with a dog, cats, a spoiled horse, and a herd of goats. When she isn’t writing, Rebecca loves to date her husband, play with her kids, swim in the ocean, and dance to disco music while she cleans the house. She’d rather eat chocolate than anything else which is why she’s recently picked up Zumba.

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I’d go back into the past and relive each moment when I first held my babies in my arms.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Speed so I could get the chores all done and have more time to write.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Chocolate Seduction

Skittles or M&Ms?
Definitely peanut M&Ms. I hate Skittles.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
I’ve put my heart and soul into this book and it has a message that’s very close to me.

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
My favorite book was a little picture book, “Two Too Twins.” I loved to have my mom read it to me and I still have the well-worn book displayed on my shelf with all my special things.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Santa Barbara, CA, where I grew up. I love the beach and the memories I have there. Both of my parents died while we lived in SB and when I return to visit, I feel close to them.

Hidden talent?
I can take off my bra without removing my shirt.

If you were a bird, which one would you be?
A peacock.

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
I’d pay off my mortgage and then take my family on a trip to Hawaii.

What do you do in your free time?
Hahahahahahaha. Free time? What’s that? Actually, I’ve started making jewelry and flower barrettes with my daughters so we can spend more time together. Most of my free time is spent on writing.

Give us a glimpse into a typical day in your day starting when you wake up till you lie down again.
One day last week: I woke up before 6:00 am and noticed a leak in the basement ceiling but couldn’t figure out how to fix it so I called my husband. My internet was down so I waited for the repairman to come and while waiting, got a call from the UPS driver who didn’t want to drive down my snow-packed driveway, so I had to drive up to meet her on the highway. My husband came home early to fix the leak and while he was under the kitchen sink, my 4-year-old took his father’s cell phone and dialed 911. After that, we discovered that a goat had given birth and we needed to attend to the babies. We finished with the goats and my husband left to pick up my son from his play rehearsal at the high school (30 miles away) only to call me a few minutes later so I could bring him another vehicle because he had a flat tire. The internet took a week to fix. We did fix the leak and my husband picked up my son safe and sound. And, 911 did call back to make sure we weren’t in any danger, but I knew that would happen because that wasn’t the first unneeded 911 call to come from my house. I fell into bed that night, grateful the day was over.

What’s your favorite season/weather?
Spring when it’s starting to warm up but isn’t too hot yet. I love to see the flowers begin to bloom. I love warm weather–not a fan of cold at all.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Dove Chocolate.

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?
The Real Housewives of New York.

Favorite music?

Thanks Rebecca for taking the time for an interview and offering my blog readers a giveaway.  Your hidden talent made me burst out in laughter!
