Blog Tour Part 2: Author Interview & Book Giveaway: Meg’s Melody by Kaylee Baldwin

Welcome to debut author Kaylee Baldwin.  I just reviewed Kaylee’s Book Meg’s Melody and am excited to post an interview with her and book giveaway.

Bio:

Kaylee Baldwin grew up in Mesa, Arizona, and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in English literature.

She currently lives in southern Arizona with her husband, Jeremy, and their three children. When she is not writing, Kaylee enjoys reading, starting new craft projects, and spending time with her family.

Interview:

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I would travel to the future. I am one of those people that read the last page of a book before I start reading so that I’ll know what’s going to happen.

What is one book everyone should read?
Speak

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
The ability to stop time.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Cookies and Cream

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
French Toast and bacon

What’s your favorite music genre? Favorite artist? Song?
I like anything mellow: Jason Mraz, Plain White T’s, Michael Buble….

Is there anything you need in order to write? (ie Chocolate, quiet, music)
I have to have peace and quiet. My kids have to be with a babysitter or asleep for me to write. I also like to have soft piano music playing.

One food you would never eat?
I’m a very picky eater! There are a LOT of things I would never, ever eat. But for sure, a cockroach.

Pet Peeves?
When I’m walking in a crowd and the person in front of me just stops. Or, when my cookie dough ice cream only has a few drops of dough in it (I want it to be bursting with cookie dough!)

Skittles or M&Ms?
Peanut M&Ms.

If you could be a paranormal creature, what would you choose to be?
Something that could fly. Maybe a fairy.

What is your favorite book that has been made into a movie?
My favorite book/movie combo is A Walk to Remember.

What do you do when you are in-between books?
Spend extra time with my family. Oh, and clean.

Where is your favorite place to read/write?
I like to write at the desktop in my bedroom, but I will read anywhere! I’ve sat on the couch, on the floor, on the stairs, the bathtub, in bed, in the doorway of my kids’ rooms, the back patio, the car… As long as a book is good, it doesn’t matter where I am.

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
I loved The Secret Garden. That is the book that sparked my love of reading.

What TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?
The Bachelor/Bachelorette. I got hooked with Jillian’s season.

How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?
I found out that Cedar Fort wanted my book the day I got back from a week long summer camp with the young women in my church. I was so excited and shocked–and so very sleep deprived–that all I could do was cry!! After I showered, I called my mom, then my husband took me out to dinner to celebrate.

Meg’s Melody by Kaylee Baldwin:
She paced the small confines of her bathroom as she waited the obligatory two minutes for the result. Yet, part of her sensed the truth. Not only did Austin take her self-esteem and plans for happiness, but he also took her get-out-of-this-marriage-free card.

The plus sign glared at Meg from the white plastic frame of the pregnancy test. The test fell from her hands and clattered into the bathtub as Meg’s back slid against the wall until she reached the floor.

“I’m pregnant,” she said into the quiet.

Meg never imagined she’d end up like this. With nowhere else to turn, she’s forced to rely on the family she pushed away, the church she abandoned, and an unexpected friendship to help her find her forgotten melody. Meanwhile Matt is still mourning the loss of his wife. But determined to keep things together for his daughter’s sake, he decides starting over in a new place might be just what his family needs.

This touching story combines romance with redemption and real conflict to remind you it’s never too late to find joy. Kaylee Baldwin’s capable hand renders a sincere, heartfelt story of rediscovery and hope. Perfect for romantics of all ages, this book will captivate your heart and rekindle your belief in the magic of music.
