Author Interview & Book Giveaway: Flirt Club by Cathleen Daly

Welcome to Author Cathleen Daly:

“Cathleen Daly is performer and writer who lives in the Bay Area outside San Francisco. Besides writing many little unintelligible notes to herself, she writes poetry, fiction and experimental theater. She has danced onstage with a cupcake attached to the top of her head and once played an old lovesick pirate who swaggered around the stage in pantaloons. “Pantaloons” is one of Cathleen’s favorite words”.

Interview:

If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I’d definitely travel into the future. I’d like to travel to a time when space travel is commonplace so I could visit other worlds and fly through the stars.

If you were a superhero what would your name be?
SASSMATRON, and I’d definitely wear a sparkly jumpsuit.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Tea and crumpets with lemon curd and creme fraiche. I know, how very British of me, right? But you can get all that at Trader Joes.

Is there anything you need in order to write? (ie Chocolate, quiet, music)
I definitely need quiet. Luckily, I live in a peaceful garden cottage.

Night owl, or early bird?
I am a total night owl, I am basically a nocturnal person who has adjusted to a diurnal world!

What is your favorite book that has been made into a movie?
“The Princess Bride”, I loved that book as a youngster and read it about 11 times. I didn’t think they’d be able to capture how delightful the book was in a movie. But they did such a great job, I loved the movie as much as the book.

What do you do when you are in-between books?
I write poetry, read a lot, and nap in puddles of shifting sunlight like a cat.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
You should read my book because it’s funny and unique, and I worked really hard on it!

If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world.. which would it be?
Probably the Phantom Tollbooth, I’d go to Dictionopolis and visit the word marketplace and eat some letters and words. I always wanted to do that.

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
You know, I had a lot. But I think the one that I read the most (over and over) was called “The Gift of Magic” by Lois Duncan. It’s about a girl with ESP and the various challenges that she faces because of her ability.

What is your favorite quote?
I have a lot of favorites, I’ll share this one, “I don’t have to attend every argument I’m invited to” ~WC Fields

If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
“Truth is Stranger Than Fiction”

Write a haiku about your book.
two shy girls blossom
silly secret worlds abound
notes, notes, lots of notes!

How would you describe the target audience for you book?
Tween girls (12 +)

How would you classify your book (which genre)?
Flirt Club is humorous realistic fiction
