Interview & Book Giveaway: Author Sherry D. Ficklin

Welcome to Author Sherry D. Ficklin!

Sherry is the author of The Gods of Fate Trilogy.  I recently reviewed the first book Foresight and am excited to have Sherry here for an interview and giveaway.

Sherry is a full time writer from Colorado where she lives with her husband, four kids, two dogs, and a fluctuating number of chickens and house guests. A former military brat, she loves to travel and meet new people. She can often be found browsing her local bookstore with a large white hot chocolate in one hand and a towering stack of books in the other. That is, unless she’s on deadline at which time she, like the Loch Ness monster, is often only seen in blurry photographs.

Her teen fantasy series, The Gods of Fate trilogy, is forthcoming from Dragonfly Publishing. Book 1, Foresight, is now available. She also has a teen mystery series under contact with Accomplice Press. The first of that series, Military Brats: Afterburn will be available Spring 2011.

What was the last book you read?

I just finished up The Lost Hero, by Rick Riordan. I just love his work, and this book didn’t disappoint.

What was the last movie you saw?
I saw Easy A with my girlfriends. It was so funny, and so wrong.

Which fictional character would you most like to meet?
I’d like to meet Harry Potter. Who wouldn’t? Accio computer!!!

4. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
I don’t normally eat breakfast. I know, it’s not healthy. I usually start my day with a hot cup of Earl Grey Green Tea.

How many books do you read a week?
4-5, depending on the books themselves and when I’m working on a project I don’t read at all.

Is there anything you need in order to write?
White noise. Normally I put on some music and burn a scented candle, but sometimes it’s just the background noise of my local coffee shop where I write.

One food you would never eat?
I’m a very adventurous eater, so there’s not much I wouldn’t eat, but I draw the line at Survivor Man style raw bugs.

Skittles or M&M’s?
I have to choose? That’s mean.

If you could be one of the Greek Gods, which one would you be and why?
I love this question! I’d be Athena I think. Goddess of wisdom and battle.

What are your favorite comfort foods?
My mom’s fried chicken or biscuits and white gravy.

How do you react to a bad interview?
I cry a lot. No, just kidding. I rant about it to my best friend, then eat something chocolate and get over it. It’s hard to remember sometimes that everybody likes different things, and no all of the people are ever going to like the same thing.

Which character of yours is most like you and why?
In the Gods of Fate series I think I’m most like Chris, actually. Determined, strong, smart, and fiercely loyal. Which is ironic, because of all the characters, he’s the hardest for me to write.
